Overview

What is the Annapurna Base Camp trek?

An 11-day trek through Nepal’s Annapurna region, travelling from Kathmandu and Pokhara into forests, terraced farmland and Gurung and Magar villages before reaching Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 m.

The trail opens onto views of Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, Khangsar Kang, Gangapurna and Annapurna III. Cultural encounters, changing landscapes, Jhinu Danda’s hot springs and the 360-degree sanctuary panorama are central highlights.

Itinerary

Day by day

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu+

Airport welcome, hotel transfer and orientation briefing, followed by dinner with the trek guide.

Day 2Drive to Pokhara+

Depart Kathmandu after breakfast for the scenic five-to-six-hour drive to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 3Drive to Jhinu and trek to Chhomrong+

Drive two to three hours to Jhinu, then trek four to five hours to Chhomrong with views of Fishtail Peak and Annapurna West. Overnight in Chhomrong.

Day 4Trek to Doban+

A roughly seven-hour forest trail through bamboo and rhododendron to Doban. Overnight in Doban.

Day 5Trek to Deurali+

Climb through lush terrain from Doban to Deurali in approximately four to five hours. Overnight in Deurali.

Day 6Trek to Annapurna Base Camp+

Continue through the Modi Khola gorge and reach Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) after six to seven hours. Overnight near ABC.

Day 7Trek to Lower Sinuwa+

Begin the descent out of the Annapurna Sanctuary and walk around six hours to Lower Sinuwa. Overnight at Lower Sinuwa.

Day 8Jhinu Danda and return to Pokhara+

Trek through rhododendron forest to Jhinu Danda, visit the natural hot springs, then drive to Pokhara.

Day 9Guided Pokhara sightseeing+

A full day in Pokhara, typically including Phewa Lake, Davis Falls and other local highlights.

Day 10Return to Kathmandu+

Drive back to Kathmandu after breakfast, with an optional flight available. Farewell dinner in the evening.

Day 11Departure day+

Free time in Kathmandu depending on the flight schedule, followed by an airport transfer.
